Why Forgive?

That’s a great question isn’t it?
Why Forgive the people who may have hurt you, also why should you forgive your self. Your probably smarter than me and can answer this question more accurately, but I’ll have a go anyway.

Forgiveness is a process were we take steps towards letting go the pain, that’ll often manifest on the inside and hinder our ability to live a healthy life.

It is acknowledging our feelings and than wrestling with what ever comes our way. But why should we forgive, why should we give someone what feels like a free pass.

First of all it’s not a free pass, you can forgive someone while explaining how hurt you are, that’s ok because it’s how we grow in our relationships with people. But if we never acknowledge our feelings and the feelings of those we might’ve hurt, of course we won’t forgive.

A free pass is allowing people to walk over you, while they try to reach the place there going. Although it can also mean, acknowledging our feelings and the feelings of those we might’ve hurt, yet we choose to forgive anyway. Because we know we either die with a healthy soul, or with a grudge against everyone or just someone who hurt us.

If you can imagine forgiveness is like glass, now imagine if you had a lot of unforgiveness inside you. Your gonna bleed from the inside out, which is the total oppisite of what God wants to do in our life.

How are we suppose to heal from the inside out, if we don’t forgive people let alone forgive ourselves. The cross isn’t the place of our greatest shame, it’s were Jesus won our victory and gave us new life.

So why forgive?

It’s simple, drink the poison and you die with those you hold in your heart. Live your life but you can never live it free, because theirs a rope cutting into your skin. It’s not paint on the ground but blood that leads the way.

It mentions Forgiveness a lot in the bible, because it’s important. Yes it’s hard, let’s not kid ourselves. But it’s worth every ounce of love when we say ‘I forgive you’ something changes on the inside of us when we forgive people, especially when we forgive ourselves.

It’s no wonder why parents who lost a child because some reckless human being decided to take their childs life, choose to forgive instead of cursing and cussing.

Why?

Because If you can imagine forgiveness is like glass, now imagine if you had a lot of unforgiveness inside you. Your gonna bleed from the inside out, which is the total oppisite of what God wants to do in our lives. Also It’s simple, drink the poison and you die with those you hold in your heart. Live your life but you can never live it free, because theirs a rope cutting into your skin. It’s not paint on the ground but blood that leads the way.

You might’ve noticed I keep mentioning it’s also important to forgive yourself. I have because it’s true and it’s hopefully caused you to ask your self if you have.

But I can’t talk about, let write a blog about the importance of forgiveness, if I haven’t right?

In my life I have struggled with a couple things, which I’m not going to mention what they are. But it causes you to live in shame, isolation, condemnation and far from Gods grace and mercy.

You live like your already dead, which doesn’t help your self- worth or your self- esteem. So one day I realised how broken I truly was, I acknowledged my feelings and gave God my pain. Lifes a journey, but we must forgive.

Much love, Shaun
